Dr. Richard Vazquez, M.D., RVT, F.A.C.S.

Dr. Vazquez is a private practice general surgeon at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The private practice structure facilitates attention to detail and personal one-on-one patient interaction. In addition, Dr. Vazquez provides private practice general surgical care to patients as a geographical full-time faculty member (Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery) at the prestigious Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Vazquez is an active member of the American College of Phlebology and the American Venous Forum, American College of Surgeons, Sages ( Society of gastrointestinal  and endoscopic surgeons), and the SLS (society of laparoendoscopic surgeons).

Dr. Vazquez served as Chief Medical Officer of the Illinois State Police from 1988 to June, 2002. During this time, he acted as the professional medical advocate for all state troopers, code personnel and their families.

Dr. Vazquez does not perform some general surgical procedures. For example, while treats disorders of the leg veins, he does not treat arterial disease.
