PROCEDURE:
You will be asked to lie down on a special breast biopsy table with a hole in it. The mammography machine is under this table. While you lie on your stomach, your breast will be placed through this hole and compressed by a paddle. Your breast will stay compressed during the entire exam. You CANNOT move once it starts. The table will be raised for the procedure.
The radiologist will clean your skin with Betadine (an iodine-based cleansing solution) and anesthetize (numb) the area of the breast with Lidocaine.
